hiring a plumber question

Hello,

I am hiring a plumber and want to know what kind of documents I should ask for.  Should I ask to see a copy of his license and insurance?  The project is a gut rehab.  Is there a standard plumber's contract I should use?

Thanks!

Quote from @Rene Bee:

You can typically see their license number on their website, business card, Google page, or some other public place. You can also call the City to see how to verify a license. They should have a contract; just make sure you actually read it and understand it. Read their reviews on Google or Facebook or Yelp to see if they have a good record, and also check to see how they respond to negative reviews (if at all). You can also ask for some recent references.
