Retail MarketPlace Wholesaling

I was told that I could not use Zillow or Redfin to search for leads to wholesale for myself. A Real Estate agent explained to me that these websites were Retail outlets and that I could not use them for any deals. Can anyone explain this to me if it is true or not that I can or cannot use these websites for wholesale deals.
