Inherited Land, how to monetize?

Tom Crane
Posted

Hi BP Community,

I am looking to generate revenue from land my parents own and have a house on part of. The property is in the beautiful Northwest CT where many New Yorker's vacation and have moved to. The main house sits on 6 acres, while the remaining 25 is not being used much and is fields and woods. A road can be built up from a main road. My question is, what type of short or long-term rental situation would be the best to generate revenue? I was thinking of building a 2-3 unit house, and doing a mix of short or long-term rentals, but am unsure. My budget for the house/structure is $300k. Any suggestions or resources I should consider as I weigh options?

Thank you!
