How did you get started investing in real estate? Did you have someone show you the ropes, or did you figure it out yourself?

 I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad in 2003. Shortly after that, I spoke to a relative that was a REALTOR and he mentioned investing in real estate. I knew he didn't have any debt, was paying for two kids to attend college, was starting to invest in real estate, and he only worked 4-5 hours a day. I figured I was capable of that and started looking for an investment. A year later I bought a townhome with $6,700 down. Long story short, I sold it eight years later (2012) and my $6,700 hand turned into over $80,000. 

That's all it took.
