I just finished How to Invest in Real Estate: The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Getting Started by Joshua Dorkin and Brandon Turner. From that, I created the following action items that seem necessary prior to purchasing an investment property. I would love any tips or feedback. Thank in advance!

    • 1. Learn real estate lingo & math
    • 2. Define: what is my value add?
    • 3. Track my current finances & reduce where appropriate
    • 4. Bring spouse on board (both with finances and real estate investment)
    • 5. Understand (current) market cycle
    • 6. Learn markets in my area (of interests)
    • 7. Assemble real estate team
    • 8. Choose niche and strategy
