When did you get started investing?

Gooooooood mornin’ BP!

I wanted to start a group thread and hear when everyone initially started their REI journey!

I first got into investing/entrepreneurship a couple months before I turned 18. I was bored sitting on my computer one day and something told me to Google “What is investing?” And it absolutely changed my life.

This led into learning about this whole new world about not trading time for money and building assets through vehicles and all of the things that we know and love. I first got into equities and learned a bit about those, dabbled with analysis of some individual stocks, learned some lessons, and then just decided to start putting my cash into several types of total market index funds in my Roth IRA and called it a day.

Through the more research I was doing, I discovered how real estate can be used as an asset. I got my license, and through saving up from my day job, was able to get pre approved for a 3-4 unit property and began looking on market. I had 2x deals in Lowell fall through for different reasons, but I learned a ton. I eventually put my current 3 family property that I am househacking in North Leominster under contract and got it closed.

I used FHA financing, and my 1 year owner occupancy requirement is coming to an end next month, and I will be moving back to my parents house full time and renting that third unit to cashflow a projected $700/mo, and am currently opening a HELOC to hopefully have a solid amount of liquidity to continue looking for my next property. I am currently looking for a 6-10 unit deal to break into the small commercial multifamily space from Lowell to Leominster with a partner and am ready to continue building my portfolio!

I would love to hear how you began your journey! :)
