Starting out with a primary residence or investment property?

Hi,

I live in Central Indiana near Kokomo. I'm trying to get to the point of buying a rental property. I am only 21 and currently do not own any property...not even a primary residence as I still live at home with my parents. Is it a bad idea to buy an investment property without first owning a primary residence?

@Zackary Hirt, you're just scratching through the surface of real estate investing my friend. Please research and look into the real estate investment strategy of HOUSE HACKING. Also, two books I advise all newer investors to read: "Set For Life" by Scott Trench and "The House Hacking Strategy" by Craig Curelop. This should help kickstart things. Please reach out if you have any additional questions and continue to stay active in the forums.
