Aloha BP community! My name is Mike and I am currently stationed and living on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. I'm so excited to have found this site and have been taking in as much knowledge as possible over the course of that past couple weeks. I've already read BP's Ultimate Beginner's Guide and have been listening to the podcasts on my daily commutes (awesome stuff!!!). I've also read two of the books that have been recommended on the site (Investing in Duplexes, Triplexes, and Quads: The Fastest and Safest Way to Real Estate Wealth by Larry B. Loftis, and Building Wealth One House at a Time: Making it Big on Little Deals by John Schaub). I have been investing in the stock market for the past few years and want to broaden my horizons and get into real estate... I would like to start investing here in Hawaii, but with the super high prices and the fact that I only have a year and a half left on the island I have to admit that I'm a bit hesitant. I see myself as being a buy-and-hold guy and am not too fond of the idea of being an out of town investor. But having said that I am really new to RE and am open to any suggestions or ideas. Also want to give a big thank you to Josh & Brandon for all you're doing with the site, it's been a great resource for me so far... Thanks for the inspiration!
