Building Portfolio while Overseas

Konnichiwa! My family and I live in Japan where I work as a Registered Architect for the Department of Defense. Been saving up money and investing (stock market) for the day we return back to the United States. Only thing is… We would like to invest now and do not want time to keep slipping away.

Initial thought was to leverage assets (stocks) or cash for the down payment on multi family property to house hack. If all goes well, purchase another multi family property and another and another (BRRRR).

How do we get started investing in properties and building a portfolio while located overseas? Any advice is appreciated and thank you.
