New to investing: Buy and Build?

Hi everyone,

I live in LA, but was just presented an opportunity to buy a house and land in Houston. The lot is large enough to build to homes on it and a fair amount of new construction is happening in the community which is driving home prices up. I'm just trying to figure out of buying and building is the best way to go. Plus, I'm not local. Any tips????
