Any Canadians Investing in the US Marketplace?

Fal Eweidah

I live in Toronto and even with our red hot market cooling down the capital requirements are up there (over 1.2M for a single-family fixer upper in Toronto). I am looking to step out of my comfort zone and try my hand at the US marketplace.

My main interest in flipping to build capital with the end goal to get into the BRRR model. Standard right? Meh, not so much.. with lots of cross border hurdles and red tape it is proving to be a pain in the ***.

Are there any Canadians here who have or looked into investing in the US marketplace?

I would be looking to structure my deals through my Canadian entities as a JV with my friends LLC down in Florida that way I can get my TN visa and live in the US for more than 6 months at a time.

My price entry point I'd like to keep between 150-200 at first with an ~30k rehab budget, what cities would you recommend? I think that limits me to class c neighborhoods but from my research those seem promising.

Thanks guys :)

We have partners who are foreign investors. DM me and I will send you contacts for; attorneys, lenders, and accountants that they have previously used. It is important that you hire professionals that have experience working with foreign investors.

Hi there. I'm in the same shoes as you, although I'm looking to jump into buy and hold rather than flip. But I'm also in the Toronto area, prices here are nuts. I'm glad we bought our home when we did.

I have a small advantage for investing in the US in that my spouse is American, so that should help a bit. My i'm looking to find SFH or MFH ~100k. I haven't landed on a location yet. So many factors to consider. But I would I could also use the hlep of some professionals (attorneys, accountatns, and lenders) that can help manage the cross boarder investing hurtles we're about to take on. Charles would you mind if I DM you as well.

Fal, happy to connect with you too! I'm sure we could support each other on this journey and hopefully help each other out.

Thanks!
