Greetings everyone.

I am looking to see if anyone has a beachfront vacation rental home in Galveston or along that coastline (BlueWater Highway Hwy).

Wanted to see how has it been for you and what the AIRBNB/vacation rental market is like? Do you recommend it? Pro's or Con's.

Would you recommend a Single Story or Two Story? Has anyone built one after buying a lot.

Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

@Abdul Siddiqui Galveston is a good STR market. It has a lot going for it, beach destination, many annual events e.g. Mardi Gras and a rapidly expanding cruise industry. Like most real estate, your entry price point has to be attractive, and you have to have the right product. STR's with a 1/1 ration of full bathroom to bedroom always to better. Also, check HOA restrictions to ensure STR allowed. It is a mixed bag in Galveston.

@Aaron Dominy   Building supply chains have eased considerably in the past 2 months, thus the time-frame to build in Galveston has shortened. It is still an island so it will take longer than an inland city. I’m a Houston based builder. For reference, the same home that takes 5 -6 months to build in Houston will take 10-12 months in Galveston. You should currently be getting 10 - 12 month estimates to compete a typical 2300 sq ft beach house. I’ll be starting a couple of Galveston beach homes by summer, I’ll update you if this time-frame changes.
