Analyzing your Market

What are the best ways to analyze specific zip codes, markets in your area of interest? I am new to the REI game and the research I have done on BP thus far has pointed me in the right direction, however, I am trying to figure out the best way to analyze all of the sales in the past 6 months - 1 year in my market. I dont know if there are specific programs, websites, etc. that can assist you in analyzing specific markets or if its more just gaining all the information and crunching all the numbers yourself. If thats what I have to do, thats what I will do, but figured I would see if there is something out there has worked well for others.
