Recommendations for learning about adaptive reuse / rehab

Alison Carey
Posted

Hello all! I am very interested in learning more about how investors do adaptive reuse and value-add rehab projects in the NY/NJ area. I have professional work experience in large-scale multifamily acquisition, renovations, and ownership but would love to connect with people that buy and renovate 2- to 4-unit buildings (either to rent or sell as rentals or condos). It would be wonderful to have informational interviews and perhaps even apprentice with somebody to learn the business. Does anybody have recommendations for firms in the area that do this kind of work or know of any individuals that might be willing to chat with me about their experience? Thanks so much!

Hello Mohammed, thanks so much for your response! Yes, you are right. I am looking to connect with folks who are experienced using the BRRRR strategy in the Tristate area (particularly 2- to 4-unit properties in NYC and Jersey City), as well as those who do adaptive reuse projects (such as converting a vacant industrial building to residential). Attending in-person networking events is a great idea, as is asking local agents to provide recommendations. I will certainly do both! I have done some research and not found many organizations that do adaptive reuse and I know value-add investing in the Tristate area can be uniquely challenging. I definitely appreciate your suggestions and any additional tips the BP community can provide for finding individuals/firms experienced in this area. Thanks again!
