Advice and recommendations for someone in the learning stage

Mary McElheney
Posted

Greetings, everyone. My name is Mary. I am starting to dive into learning about investing in real estate, but I have a few questions regarding my current situation: I have a steady job. I've been a nurse for almost 2 years now. I just finished getting by BSN, so I can now focus on saving money to invest. The only debt I currently have is school loans I co-signed for my children. I don't really have an emergency fund yet. Lastly, I live in a rental.

So, my questions are:

1: Do I need to own my own home before I start buying investment properties or can I continue to rent?

2: If I am planning on relocating within the next 6 months - 1 year, should I wait to buy property (either for myself or for investing)?

3: Would you please recommend one resource that has helped you the most to become successful?
