From the beginning: starting an LLC

Hey everyone,

First I should start off by introducing myself. My name is Ian Jackson, I am 23 years old, currently a licensed electrician working as an estimator/ project manager for an electrical contractor out of Boston, MA. I’ve been interesting in rental properties for quite some time now, but since I have enough capital to begin, I feel ready to jump in.

Any advice on starting your LLC? I'm currently searching for a lawyer, a CPA, and a bookkeeper prior to starting one. Is that imperative before starting an LLC, or am I overthinking it? I feel as if having a network could possibly be vital In my current situation. I could also be wrong!

You are definitely over-thinking it.

An LLC is a defensive maneuver designed to protect you when sued. There are many proactive things you can do to prevent you from sued, which is far better. For example, knowing and obeying the law will stop more than 99% of lawsuits.

You need to invest and learn how to manage your property and tenants before you start worrying about how to act like a big investors
