When to remove loan contingency for commercial loan?

For a  commercial multifamily  in contract (5-10 unit), at what stage it is customary to remove the loan contingency for a commercial loan (conventional loan)? After appraisal do we wait for a confirmation from the lender that the loan is approved remove the loan contingency? Or it varies a lot from case to case?
