What markets to invest in in Alberta Canada

I live in a very small town in Alberta and I would like to move into a larger city. I am looking for an investment, my first one. I am not sure what market I should move into. I want to have lunch with mentors and real estate investors. To be honest there is no one I can do that with where I am at. I also need to get away from friends and family that are very negative. I would like to surround myself with doers and positive people. That is the reason for the move. I have searched the internet but don’t know people who invest so they’re not many deals on realtor.ca. I would like to know what you think. Good bad anything.
