Part-Time MLO and Part-Time Real Estate Agent. Can it be done?
Hello community,
I've committed to starting a new career in real estate during the first quarter of this year. However I can't decide between being a MLO or a Real Estate Agent. I have a background in finance, marketing and hospitality and I'm confident I could be successful in whichever position I put my mind to. From what I understand, possibly the most important factor for success in either role is the strength of an individual's professional network. I imagine well established real estate agents and mortgage loan officers have very synergistic relationships with each other and help each other out with referrals.
Does anyone think it's possible to do both part time simultaneously? In theory it seems like by working smart in both, you could use one position to leverage your success in the other both ways.
I'm aware that you can't work in dual capacity on the same deal. I'm aware that success in either position requires persistent hard work and that building both businesses from the ground up at the same time is unrealistic. Most accounts I've read of people doing both ended with the person eventually committing to one or the other. Is it possible to establish yourself in one, then the other and find a creative way to make being both part time work to your advantage? Could it be done without working yourself to death? Thoughts?
I'm very new to this whole world, so if this idea is just plain ridiculous you can tell me that too. Thanks.
