My first move to becoming a pro
I know I want to escape my W-2 job as a Sales Consultant for Ford Lincoln. I don't know squat about real estate. I live in south-central Michigan in a town called Coldwater. What is my first move? What is my first book so I can research the topic? Any podcast out there? Any vlogs I should watch? TIA.

Put briefly, the "Education" tab at the top of the site has TONS of great first steps. There are a few that I would highlight: the "Real Estate Rookie" and the "BiggerPockets Real Estate" Podcasts, "Set for Life" by Scott Trench, and "How to Invest in Real Estate" by Joshua Dorkin and Brandon Turner.
There are obviously hundreds of more sources that I could recommend, but these are a couple of great ways to get your toes wet, diving in further where you see fit. Best of luck to you!
I second this. I recommend new investors treat BP like a college course. Here's what I'd recommend as your daily "classwork":
- 1. Listen to one podcast episode
- 2. Read one blog post
- 3. Interact with 10 forum posts
- 4. Read 10 pages of a business book
- Also, attend the webinars once a week and attend one networking event a month. If you did all that 5 days a week for a year, you wouldn't recognize yourself by the end of it.
