Newbie to Rental Market

Hey family! I am a 20yr old from Queens,NYC who wants to start a real estate portfolio. I have gained some knowledge starting out in wholesale for almost a year now and have been full time with no other occupation. Made some great money since the start in April 2021, and I really want to invest for passive income but I am unsure on what market I should be looking in. Any advice? I was thinking NJ, PA, OR CT but would greatly appreciate some insight!
