Thinking of building my home

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year!  I've recently considered buying a plot of land and building a home for myself from the ground up.  I have never done this before and wanted to know if anyone has advice.  Any suggestions on what to watch out for?  I live in Southern California and will be considering options between OC and San Diego.
