Business credit card - Denied

Hello all.

I was recently denied for a business credit card because my business has no credit history. I have been in business as a sole proprietor for 3 years. I was under the impression that they would take my personal credit score into account (760). Am I missing something? Is this a common situation?

Thanks!

Business credit is completely separate from personal credit. If you own the property in an LLC they might look at your credit, but it's based on your business. You will need to establish trade lines and use them. A couple of easy ones to get are Quill (Office Supplies), ULine and Grainger. You'll need a Tax ID number. Some require an address other then your home address. I use a Regus virtual office. Spend at least $50 a month for a few months and they will report your good credit by paying on time.
