Contractor and trades apprenticeships?

Have any investors partnered with local contractors or tradesmen along with local trade schools on an apprenticeship like program? We have such an aging, and overall shortage, of contractors, plumber's, electricians, etc I have thought about seeing if we could utilize one of our remodels and have trade school students work with instructors and contractors on a project? Trying to create relationships with new students about to enter the worth force with local tradesmen with the hopes of retaining them in our area. Anyone explored this concept?
