What is the best entity to create for a new partnership?

Hi everyone,

My name is Alex Corpolongo and I'm from Somers, New York.  I'm a new member of BiggerPockets and I'm currently working on my first investment property!  I am working with a partner (also from New York) on a deal of two duplexes in Florida (we're planning on renting them out).  I'm interested to know if we should create an entity; and if so, what type would you recommend?

My partner owns two other properties, one in Florida and one in New York, that he'd like to keep protected in case anything goes wrong with the current deal we're working on.  The two of us would like to continue buying properties together in the future.

I realize this is probably a rookie question, but I've learned a ton through BiggerPockets already and really respect the feedback that is given on these forums.  Any information would be much appreciated, thank you!
