Business credit card for contractors

Does anyone here give their contractor a business credit card tied to your LLC or business entity? How do you do it?

I'm trying to set up my contractor with one so that he can pay for materials without me having to confirm payment over the phone every time he buys something. I usually review receipts every week and I've worked with him for years so trust is not an issue.

Do I ask my bank for a second card and authorize him as the user? Can I set a separate limit for his card? Are there any pitfalls to this I might not be aware of or is there a better way solving this problem?
