NJ Resident Buying In Illinois

Hey Everyone,

Quick newbie question. I'm from NJ and I am looking at a commercial apartment building in Illinois. I have yet to form my LLC because I am a little confused as to whether I need to form it in Illinois or if I can form it in NJ (since this is were I live and would be receiving mail either to my home or to a PO box). If I form it in NJ, can I register it in Illinois? I'm sure I'm not the first person to have gone through this. Any help would be most appreciated!

Thanks
