Rentals in LLC W/Business Partner

My cousin and I currently have a LLC and until this point we have primarily focused on flipping. We are now looking to expand the scope and incorporate rentals into our business model. The LLC was formed with him and I as equal partners. I was married before it was formed and he became married well after it was formed. My question is tied to the purchase of rental properties into the LLC and how those properties would be handled in the event of a divorce? I haven't reached out yet for advise from an attorney, but figured this would be a good place to start considering the experienced members on this site. The last thing him or I would want to do is to spend time building up our rental portfolio and something happen which led to a divorce and be forced to sell those properties to pay out the equity during a split of assets. I might be best to keep them separate from each other, but I appreciate any advise that could be provided.
