Maryland - Evicting Tenant After Tax Lien Sale (Allegany Co.)

Katherine Peach

Hello! I'm looking at a property that was purchased by another investor at a tax sale in 2024. I'd like to rehab and live in this property myself.

Apparently, the investors who bought it at the tax lien sale weren't aware that the previous owners still live there.

If the purchasers at the tax lien sale haven't undertaken any eviction steps after about a year, could the former owners still have any sort of claim to it? And how messy is the eviction process in Allegany County? The former owners have a history of violent crime and illegal weapon ownership. Would it be more hassle than it's worth?

Thanks!
