Not that it matters that much, but I would like to complete my profile with a picture and cannot get it to work...resized, cropped, ect.  What is the secret?

I'm a new member and used my brand logo as my Profile Picture.  I noticed that this logo kept disappearing, so I used my Headshot instead.  Did I commit a faux pas using my brand logo as my Profile Picture?
