Looking to build passive income for retirement. Not trying to replace my W2 job or build an empire. Goal is $5k a month in passive income by 2036 to augment the rest of my retirement so I can live how I want during retirement. Of course if I hit that goal early I wont stop there...

I have a background in teaching and corporate outside sales and in the past decade have worked as a freelance artist (ongoing). I need to build a healthy nest egg for retirement, even though I'm not within at least 5 years of wanting to retire. I'd like to be able to afford quite a bit of travel before then!
