I purchased my first stand alone home when I was 14.
My mother was into rentals and when I was 14 said "mom, I want to buy a house". She said OK, find one and we can buy it.
I looked in the paper (there was no Internet back then!) and found a 500sqft house...

I grew up in NJ and went to college at Villanova - go cats! I am back in Jersey and maintain my business in two locations: The Jersey Shore and back where it all started in Radnor, PA. We buy / build Class A luxury apartment rentals. We have also built and operated about 100 homes but are more focused on larger multifamily now.
