@Monique Samuel-   get pre approved  with a lender  and  use the premise that  this will be your primary residence ....if  buying as a  rental - your down payment  and  rates and fees  will be considerably  higher ...classifying it  as a " second home  "  will not fly ....

There is a different set of participation tests if this is the case and if you meet 1 of those tests, then it's possible that your rental activity can be classified as non-passive.
