Maybe to give you some peace of mind, getting a CMA done for sale, pricing out building, pricing out fixing and having all the data may give you the most clarity on what is the highest and best use of your time, resources, mental energy etc. 

I currently live with my parents and am looking into getting my first duplex/triplex in the central Connecticut area, as I do not know where my next promotion to a Branch Manager will be yet (I want to make sure I buy somewhere that won't make my commute completely miserable time-wise). 

I would try to find a brokerage that promotes the investing and entrepreneurial side of real estate.

But with that dream typically comes at least a little bit of a mentality of “oh I can’t do that!”

But there is a bro mentality that often leads to people referring one of their "bro's" just because they know him - not because they know he is good at what he does.
