The issue is that the resident also has to follow certain onerous and strict procedures regarding all of their 'stuff' and furniture/bedding in order to rid of them.

I have been reading rental management books and they say to have a book with policies and procedures to ensure you operate your investment as a business.

There are regulations at the state legislature proposing allowing any Single Family house be converted to a duplex.In addition, there have been cities that have enacted rent control (parts of Los Angeles and San Francisco).

Not sure what the correct procedure is in this case.
