I work in Construction Project Management and have found that way more people than I think have found an avenue into RE that has been supplemental income and even a hobby for them depending upon which route they took.

There is a property manager in place, and I would like to keep using him. 

These people would be lenders, property managers, and real estate agents.

But this manager is less experienced than another property manager that will take 20% and has 50 properties.

Is it common practice for property managers to forward paid receipts to owners or not?

My question is if I was going to do a mid term rental, would there be any benefit to using AirBNB as a host as opposed to my traditional property management company which also does 30 days leases?

You could do some work yourself, and then project manage, once you figure out how to buy cheap off market deals.  

I moved into my apartment last March and it is owned by a major property management company.
