Although, knocking on doors in LA seems mostly to recall that scene in "Young Frankenstein," the mental image of carrying actual cash along is what really blows my mind!

A good mental model to look at these things is: "judge a policy not by its intent, but by its outcome". 

Where I am now, my approach seems scatterbrained, and that usually becomes the mental wall that I can't get over - thinking what to do next, where and how to start, etc.

However, one of the family members who is 92 years old is extremely sick mentally (after he know we need to move to a new home), and I have to stay in my old house with him; as a result, I am forced to rent the new home out around late September 2023.

Since after going thru bankruptcy, buying a credit line help me boost my credit score by about 40-70 points and helped me get higher limits on my credit cards.

Consider selling and buy a house hackable duplex, or renting rooms to boost your savings.

Even if I move to FL (there's a small chance I'd stay in the district in which my pay would increase rather than decrease, but I'm thinking conservatively), I'm content and otherwise mentally prepared to be an out-of-state landlord.
