My husband got laid off from his job at a Home Depot subsidiary a couple years ago and if he didn't already have his side business in place he'd be SOL at age 60.We either have to bring back what worked for America in the past or adopt a new paradigm.

welcome antonio..i got interested in REI at about your age after reading rich dad poor dad and read the whole thing in one night....anyways, i've since discovered that although that book sparked my interest, it really had little content to it...stick to this board and you'll learn a ton so feel free to jump in and ask questions..any idea what type of investing you want to do??

I wonder if I helped him invest $100K in RE at age 18 (instead of college) and taught him what I know, and set up aggressive REI education, where he'd be at 22, 30, and 55 years of age.

Thank you everyone for your replies..so everyone sort of understands the relationship:I'm 50 years of age and my friend is a few years older--we have known each other since I was 14--he was the best man at my wedding and in past times we were room-mates---a lot of history.I cautioned him about being a landlord and stated that he ideally would need a certain number of properties--in case of a lengthy vacancy, eviction, damaged unit.

I was at 580 in early 2010.I have zero debt (minus a personal mortgage), but my credit history is still quite young (I'm 26) I have $40k - $45k in revolving credit lines that I don't use, and my AAoA (Average Age of Accounts) is about 3 years.I'm hoping by the time I'm 30, I'll be up to the 800's :)

Reading deals on wheels - I was rather skeptical about the possibility of buying at $2K and selling at $4K in this day and age.
