What if 2 years down the road you decide to move to a new property and want to lease both sides of the duplex.

I am currently going to be a college freshman, but I am looking down the road and am interested in real estate.

How steep are the roads?

If it would cash flow today then live there and rent it out down the road.

I figure if we do good at that, then we can be forgiven if we make mistakes down the road and mistakes will happen, that is simply the nature of a business.

Right now I'm leaning towards managing myself, but would like to gain some insight from someone that has managed their own property from afar.Also can anyone recommend a good property manager in the Hampton Roads area just in case I do decide to go that route?

I know the place youre talking about and there are also multiple MF properties for sale on the road at favorable or decent prices.

Maybe even knocking on neighbors doors on buildings that seem to have a lot of deferred maintenance, The road exists, it's finding the path that you feel will work for you the best!!

Is $370k upscale for your area, or middle of the road?

Don't leave things to chance, don't make decisions based on chance or gut feelings (though if your gut is warning you, investigate further), and if the numbers don't pencil out in your favor at the beginning of a project, things will only get worse down the road.
