I'm also looking in Pittsfield, which is going through it's own revitalization with investments in it's downtown and "cultural district."  

I'm in the Columbus, OH market and found a property that seems like a good opportunity, but would like to get some feedback from experienced investors to make sure I am looking at this properly and not missing anything.The house is in what I would consider a C/C- neighborhood in the downtown Columbus area, but it butts up to an up-and-coming area.

The Deal....Preforeclosure 2/1.5, last unit in row of 6 townhouses (built early 1900), 100yds from highway offramp (bit of an eye sore but trees block noise well and can't beat the location (fenced back yard=no noise) in great area walking distance to 2 hospitals, 3 breweries, downtown area, college town but far from the school, big military town.3.

In addition, I have been lucky enough to find a cheap lease in downtown Montreal on Peel (high traffic/tourist area) where I paid off the tenant (14 year lease rent controlled).

Louis is a more reasonable market, price-wise, I'm thinking about purchasing rental properties there rather than here in Chicago, specifically a condo in the Washington Ave section of downtown.

Lynne--I live near downtown, work as an agent, and collaborate often with investors. 

Some downtown in the historic district, but they normally are pretty expensive.
