It’s still a pretty big property, and a bigger property would be more expensive to maintain anyway (roof, siding, flooring, windows etc. more expensive to replace, higher utilities, etc.), so you could look at it that way!

get the other side rented out properly, with proper contracts, then also properly maintain seperate accounts for the rental income and expenses and bookkeep properly. stay firm but friendly as a landlord
