Anybody see a downside in selling individual stocks/ETFs in my portfolio that are showing a loss to lock in those losses for tax purposes next year and then redeploy the cash to low priced index funds?

Ideally, I will be house hacking a duplex or triplex in the Dallas area in three or four years to coincide with my companies move, then turning my Austin home into a rental unit.As a San Diegan I have very limited knowledge of Austin‘s Real Estate market aside from the obvious, a sellers market with a constant influx of individuals such as myself.

Look at it from an estate planning wealth transfer as well as how it is taxed. you have a lot of options-Ages of kids and grandparents, amount of money, financial position of everyone, health of individuals, etc will make the Proper options float to the top.

It will let me add a second individual owner/agent but that only allows personal info.
