They would have walked you through this already and helped you think through what strategy is best for your situation. 

I just did one in a similar situation in CT. 

I have had clients that did not know this house was vacant 4 months caught fire burnt to the ground .. first thing the adjuster does is interview the neighbors and ask when was the last time anyone was living there.. so same thing here with the freeze you need builders risk / vacant home rider  in these situations. 

My current living situation is still going to be in place for another 7-8 months, so buying something in the very short term isn't necessarily my goal.

It will be interesting to see how many of these investors are still in the business in a few years with the foundations they sadly believe will serve as a stepping stone into the better situated assets you pointed to.
