It started off great and first 6 months there were no issues, but lately for the last few months, there have been some sort of repairs every month.

However, it never hurts to submit a claim to the insurer, the worst they can do as claim it's not a covered matter.I would probably contact the seller and see if they have proof the bill was paid.

As far as theft of major equipment, bobcats, tractors, that sort of thing, in my experience, the rental company tracks their assets with gps...

Please put your input on whether or not this seems feasible, I need the good comments and the criticism so I know exactly what to expect in the worst case scenario.
