They specifically said do not have tenants write checks to your personal name incase of lawsuits. 

Either way, the answer is that it is only beneficial under very specific circumstances.

@Bob Stevens I currently don't have any properties under contract, and as a result, there is no specific scope of work.

Around downtown is a little more street by street specific but we've had a lot of success in Bryant and Benton as well.

And without looking at these specific emails you mentioned (and the amount that the lawyer billed you), it's hard to say if you got overbilled or not.
