If you do need to file a claim and they determine you gave false information not only will your claim be denied you could also face insurance fraud charges.

@Juan Abreu you’re playing with fire for owner occupied properties for use with rentals because if you apply for the homestead discount (reduction in taxable value of your home) for Ooc homes loans look for that sort of thing and can deny you based on that.

If you have home insurance in a situation when you should have had a landlord policy, a company may deny a claim.If you have many 1 to 4 family homes, it might make sense to have a commercial policy that bundles them together, but there are pros and cons to this approach versus individual policies.Note that portfolios and situations vary by the investor, and what is a good fit for one is not necessarily a good fit for another.

I've been warned by my agent to be sure contractors are licensed and insured because my landlord insurance would deny coverage if something happens and the contractor is not licensed and insured.If the contractor is not licensed and insured and if a worker is injured doing work at my property, I'm told in my state the property owner will be sued.

I'd consider what you think you will gain by denying those people access to your units, and then do a bit of research to confirm that you will actually gain something by doing that.
