Given you mentioned it's an older blding, have a good inspector take a look as part of your due diligence...There may be hidden expenses and deferred maintenance that could haunt you later.btw, I grew up not too far from you.

Old units will always surprise you so find a buddy that knows repair work or hire an inspector and be conservative with your estimates because if you can live with the worst case scenario then everything else is gravy.  

I will begin to search for an inspector.

Next week, section 8 inspector is going to come to inspect the house.Reading other people's forum, I did ask for the proof of income (food stamp, SSI and SSA) and copy of ID/driver's license.

In that one instance, I could not get off to go inspect or take the pics.

With the inspector we tested all the plumbing, all the drains ran fine but didn't scope them.

But, when I went in with a home inspector there were lot more problems with the house like roof, furnace, electrical,heating, mold, wet walls.
