If it's looking at the ocean, then that's why it's more expensive.Think... if you want ocean/lake views, are you going to buy a house on the ocean/lake, or do you want to live across the street?

Three small streets north is Tramview and that is the end of the sub-division, and for that matter, Palm Springs. 

I had all the underground plumbing replaced to the street and then 5 months later still problems.  

.: 3,500Beds: 10Baths: 4Price: $572,000Current Rents: $4,800Monthly Payment to seller (seller-financing): $3,500/month for 30 yearsDown Payment: $30,000Accessibility: on main street; next door to elementary school; walking distance to grocery storeRoof: replaced within last 5 yearsTermites: N/ATenants: Long-termParking: No off-street parking, but that doesn't seem to make too much of a difference in this heavy-rental, working-class area.It's obviously not going to cashflow like $572,000 worth of property in the Midwest, but at least I have $1,300/month leeway between rents and monthly payment for expenses, maintenance, vacancies, etc.  

People will look at Zillow and see that it is priced higher than any comparable property on the street and that you paid 95 for it.

Data tells us that in this Wall Street Journal piece that the savings rate is going negative for the renter generation.

Due to local city harassment like Fine over fine for trashcan on the driveway and other nuisances, plus insurance rates tripled cus heh insurance knows when an area goes class D and also thanks to street neighbors who looted the property 3x times while I tried to rent it, I simply cut my loss and moved on.

It will be hard to explain if you move down the street or across town with no posable explination.
