From my limited understanding and searching around on google, it seems appraisals are mainly important when there is a loan of some sort involved.

Craigslist is also good (Search on terms like "plex" or "apt" or "unit" or "apartment", under Housing --> Real Estate - All).Perhaps also get to know a couple of Buyer's Agents.

In my King County Washington - you can search by property address and parcel number.

I have searched and searched, but can't find actual name of this thing.
