If you want to get to the point where you can consistently draw an income from them, unless you have significant reserves set aside, I would recommend no more than $50/month with the rest going to reserves until you have a minimum of $10,000/per door set aside.

Part of the reason I suggested a bunch of small notes is it seems to me you want to avoid 2 very common mistakes:One is partnering with a syndicator you do not know well (or one you know socially but do not have business experience with) with any large part of your portfolio-- in the current case I'd say ideally no more than $50,000 but you may not be able to buy in for less than $100,000.

You'd have some coordination to do if you have a buyer with contingencies, but their contingencies should be no more than what the seller would normally have to give if they found another buyer.
